(4:40) Kahuku ball on its 27. Matagi is over 100 yards on a 17-yard run into Punahou territory at the 41. Peter John Mataira with a 7-yard reception to the 34 of Punahou but a holding penalty is going to bring the ball back far. All the way to midfield. Adolpho lobs one deep and a Kahuku receiver is there but can’t make the catch. That was so close to a TD. Fourth-and-19 at midfield. This is it. Flag down as a deep ball is underthrown. It’s on Kahuku. Penalty declined. Punahou will hold on.

(5:39) Punahou ball on its 20. Quickly third-and-8 as Ah You forces the throw away. Sagapolutele avoids the sack and hits Terrell short and he BREAKS BOTH TACKLES. Terrell. GONE. 78-yard TD. He turned maybe getting the first down into a TD as both Kahuku tacklers fail to bring him down. What a play. 21-13 Punahou, 4:47, Q4.

Punahou has it third-and-5 at the Kahuku 48 to start the fourth quarter. Kahuku whistled for pass interference. Another ticky-tack call. Ball is placed at the Kahuku 33. Kaonohi now called for a hold on Eldredge. Those two are having a nice battle. Not sure I saw that penalty either. Another penalty on Kaniho. Looked like Eldredge just jumped to catch a ball over his head. That was ridiculous. Ball at the 10. More flags fly on the next play. Holding on Kahuku. First-and-goal at the 20. Sagapolutele scrambles for 11 and then hits Dancil-Evans for 7 yards to the 2. Third-and-goal. Timeout Kahuku. Terrell runs to the 1. Fourth-and-goal. Punahou will go fir it. Sagapolutele and Terrell botch the handoff and Ace Kaufusi is there to grab it for Kahuku.

Now I have no idea what just happened. The clock stopped. Not sure why. Punahou got a chance to set. Looks like they try to spike but he might never have had control of the ball. Kahuku won last years match up 41-28. Not the other way around like the Star Advertiser wrote in its write up on Friday. Not trying to say we are enemy of the state or nothing. Just trying to get the facts out there. Haha. RR4L

  2. Hau’ulaBoy October 5, 2019 9:26 pm

Playing against zebras again. Haha. Jus let em play.

  3. Hau’ulaBoy October 5, 2019 10:48 pm

    Good job Red Raiders.

  4. Wainakea October 5, 2019 10:54 pm

The officiating was really bad today. Not sure it would have changed the outcome, but bad call after another.

  5. Jacob Makaiwi October 5, 2019 10:58 pm

Wow, that was an exciting game! Felt like a championship game. That Punahou RB was clutch with that YAC on that final TD catch. I love watching a physical game too. Not too many teams can match Kahuku’s physicality, but Punahou had some tough tough boys that did it. Both defenses looked similar in every way. Such strong defenses on both teams. Tough loss for Big Red and great win for the Buff n Blue. This game could’ve gone either way, but one team had to win. Good luck to both of these teams the rest of the season. Awesome game!

Bad calls is right, should have been a safety, but Punahou gets a break by the Zebras, and a few bad calls on the interference calls against Kahuku.

  7. Proudbuffnbluemama October 6, 2019 1:18 am

Good game to both teams. I think the refs did good this game. Unlike the Punahou St. Louis game.

  8. Lou October 6, 2019 4:34 am

Yup. Great game. Kahuku D looks tuff. Too bad Soliai Hewlett is injured on the O line. Gave up those big plays. Sagapolutele will be a beast. Maybe transfer to Mater Dei? Nah. One thing ,big red needs to avenge their lost to Mililani. In any case qb Adolpho needs work, but they will be in the States. Good Luck to all.
