GAME NIGHT 10/12: Farrington/Kahuku

9:32: 28-6 is your final. Kahuku pulls away late to win on its homecoming.

9:28: Robert Chang with a 8-yard touchdown for Kahuku. That pretty much puts a cap on this one as Kahuku now leads 28-6 with 1:28 left.


9:25: NOW we might be done. Mana Fonoimoana-Vaomu with an interception for Kahuku to the Farrington 11, 2:18 left.

9:24: Not quite done yet. Farrington recovers a fumble from its own 8 with 2:26 left.

9:23: After an extended injury timeout, Farrington punts from deep in its own territory. Kaniho with another great punt return, returning it to the Farrington 22 with 2:37 left.

9:15: If rally time were to start for Farrington, it would have to start right now. Govs ball on their own 16 with 3:56 left.

9:13: Matagi punches it in from one yard out, his third score of the day. Requilman knocks the PAT through to extend the lead to 21-6 with 4 minutes left. That is most likely all the separation Kahuku needed to seal the victory judging by the way both teams are playing at the moment. But we shall see.

9:10: Kahuku goes for it on fourth-and-5 from the Farrington 20. Matagi hurdles a defender to convert with 5:15 left.

9:04: After Kahuku punts from its own 10, Mareko fumbles the punt return, which is recovered by Requilman and ran to the Farrington 24. Red Raiders with another chance to make it at least a two-possession game with 8:35 left.

FOURTH QUARTER

8:55: Farrington does pick up a first down but not another. After a punt, Kahuku gets the ball back on its own 11 with 24 seconds left in the third. The Red Raiders run one play on a 2-yard rush to Matagi before the clock runs out. It’s 14-6 Kahuku after three quarters.

8:46: Kahuku lines up for a 34-yard field goal but it’s short. Farrington gets the ball back with 2:43 left, still down 14-6.

8:37: Farrington can’t much going either and goes three-and-out as well. Kahuku will start from its own 15, 8:24 left in the third.

8:34: Things are getting very interesting. Kahuku goes three-and-out and Farrington will start from its own 44 with 9:45 left in the third after the punt.

8:31: Kahuku receives the second half kickoff and will start from its own 31.

THIRD QUARTER

8:09: Kahuku runs out the clock and takes a 14-6 lead into halftime. The Red Raiders will receive to start the second half. But again, that was a huge play by Mareko and the Farrington defense.


8:06: WOW. Just as Kahuku was driving inside the Kahuku 7, Farrington gets on the board with a Calijah Mareko 93-YARD SCOOP AND SCORE. The PAT is no good, but Farrington cuts the lead to 14-6 with 23 seconds left in the first half. A huge momentum swing.

7:55: Farrington shoots itself in the foot with some penalties and is forced to punt from around the Kahuku 45. Or so we thought. The Govs attempt a fake punt but don’t really get anywhere. Kahuku from its own 44 with 2:26 left until halftime.

7:46: Kahuku goes three-and-out and punts from its own end zone. Farrington has its best starting field position of the day at the Kahuku 30 with 4:13 left in the first half.

7:40: Farrington goes for it on fourth-and-goal from the Kahuku 3 and doesn’t convert. Stud linebacker Ace Kaufusi was there to lay the wood for Kahuku, who cause a 6 yard loss on a high lateral.

7:37: Farrington now inside the Kahuku 10 after a facemask call.

SECOND QUARTER

7:31: End of the first. Kahuku looking dominant early with a 14-0 lead.

7:27: MATAGI TOUCHDOWN. He’s already up to rushing TD No. 2 of the day, this time bursting up the right for a 16-yard score. Requilman’s extra point extends the Red Raider lead to 14-0 with 28 seconds left in the first.

7:24: Farrington picks up a first down and gets to midfield before the vicious Kahuku front seven forces another punt on a sack. Kaniho with another nice return, this time to the Farrington 30 with 2:04 left in the first.

7:18: TOUCHDOWN KAHUKU. Zealand Matagi punches it from 4 yards out. Adam Requilman‘s extra point is good and the Red Raiders lead 7-0 with 4:29 left in the first.

7:14: Kahuku forces another three-and-out, causing Farrington to punt from its own end zone. The Red Raiders will start again from the Farrington 18 after Kaonohi Kaniho‘s nice punt return, 6:45 left in the first.

7:12: Kahuku drives all the way to the Farrington 1 but gets STUFFED outside the goal line on fourth-and-goal. Still scoreless.

7:05: Farrington receives to begin the game and goes three-and-out.

FIRST QUARTER


7:01 p.m.: Late kickoff due to the JV game, which Kahuku won 34-26.
