10:16: The Seariders march 65 yards for a touchdown. It’s capped by Kaloi-English’s 12-yard TD pass to Kaai Tambaoan-Kaeo. Joshua Centeno-Cid kicks the extra point. SAINT LOUIS 56, WAIANAE 26, 0:22 left in third quarter.

10:06: Running clock is in play.

10:04: The Crusaders get a key sack on a fourth-down Seariders play by Jordan Botelho. It sets up a quick Saint Louis drive of three plays and 65 yards. This time, Kaohu Kanakawiwoole runs it home from 6 yards out. Napuunoa kicks the extra point. SAINT LOUIS 56, WAIANAE 19, 7:30 left in third quarter.

9:59: Two plays later, the Seariders cough it up and Kawaihinano Kalaukoa recovers for Saint Louis and returns it 49 yards for a touchdown. Napuunoa kicks the extra point. SAINT LOUIS 49, WAIANAE 19, 11:09 left in third quarter.

9:57: Waianae recovers a squib kick for the third time on the night to open the half.

9:34: On the last play of the half, de Laura eludes an intense Waianae rush and arcs his run across the whole field to open space. He looks like he’s going to run but pulls up and tosses a 25-yard touchdown pass to Sykes. Napuunoa kicks the extra point. SAINT LOUIS 42, WAIANAE 19, 0:00 second quarter.

9:20: On the next play, Kaloi-English hits Machado with a quick pass. Machado picks up a key block from Delson Cordeiro and gets to the edge on the left sideline and run all the way for a 70-yard touchdown. Joshua Centeno-Cid kicks the extra point. SAINT LOUIS 35, WAIANAE 19, 2:48 left in second quarter.

9:15: Travis Mauai-Koki intercepts a de Laura pass. Waianae ball at its 30.

9:08: It takes the Crusaders eight plays to cover 79 yards for a touchdown. Taliulu caps the drive with a 1-yard TD run. Napuunoa kicks the extra point. SAINT LOUIS 35, WAIANAE 12, 6:30 left in second quarter.

9:05: The Seariders get as far as the Saint Louis 10 but fumble it away on a high snap. Saint Louis’ Lawaialani Brown recovers at the Crusaders’ 21.

9:00: The Seariders get the ball back on a fumbled kickoff return. They take over on the Saint Louis 32.

8:50: Waianae continues to push forward and it gets into the end zone on Quisquirin-Sabagala’s 2-yard run up the middle and over the top. Lopes’ pass to Quisquirin-Sabagala for the 2-point conversion falls incomplete. SAINT LOUIS 28, WAIANAE 12, 10:57 left in second quarter.

8:42: Jorden Kaloi-English is in at QB for Waianae. On his second pass of the game, he connects with Machado for a 25-yard gain. A personal-foul penalty moves the ball to the Saint Louis 16.

8:40: Three plays later, de Laura throws a dart on a string to Matt Sykes in the deep left corner of the end zone for a 9-yard touchdown. Napuunoa kicks the extra point. SAINT LOUIS 28, Waianae 6, 1:28 left in first quarter.

8:38: On Waianae’s next possession, Johnathan Alualu tackles the Seariders’ Quisquirin-Sabagala for 2-yard losses twice. Waianae punts and Saint Louis takes over on the Seariders’ 45.

8:31: The Crusaders come back strong, taking seven plays to cover 55 yards and finish the touchdown drive with de Laura’s 6-yard pass to Nishigaya. Napuunoa kicks the extra point. SAINT LOUIS 21, WAIANAE 6, 3:19 left in first quarter.

8:26: On the next play, Lopes hits Machado with a high pass at the left front corner of the end zone. Machado leaps to get it for a 4-yard TD. Joshua Centeno-Cid’s extra-point attempt goes wide right. SAINT LOUIS 14, WAIANAE 6, 4:59 left in first quarter.

8:25: A Kolu Quisquirin 18-yard run and a 10-yard Lopes pass to Machado help bring the ball to the Saint Louis 4.

8:19: On the next play, Lopes hits Nainoa Machado with a 49-yard pass down the left sideline. Waianae ball at the Saint Louis 46.

8:17: The Crusaders begin to march, but a de Laura pass is picked off by Waianae’s Cameraon Quijano.

8:11: Waianae goes three and out on its second offensive possession and punts. Saint Louis ball at its 45.

8:08: On the next play, de Laura lofts a pass to Roman Wilson for a 20-yard touchdown. Napuunoa kicks the extra point. SAINT LOUIS 14, WAIANAE 0, 9:00 left in first quarter.

8:06: The Crusaders are back at it again. A ground-ball kick rolls past Waianae’s front men. There is a wide gap between the front and back players and Saint Louis comes down in a hurry to recover the loose ball at the 20.

8:02: On the next play, Mason Taliulu runs up the middle for a 10-yard touchdown. Lason Napuunoa kicks the extra point. SAINT LOUIS 7, WAIANAE 0, 9:08 left in first quarter.

8:01: On fourth down, Koali Nishigaya catches a de Laura 11-yard pass for a first down at the Seariders’ 10.

8:00: Jayden de Laura completes his first four passes and the Crusaders are on the move. A 18-yard completion to Isaac Silva helps get the ball to the Waianae 21.

7:57: Waianae, in the mud, goes three and out and punts.

7:56: Shaydon Lopes is in at QB for Waianae, which is starting from its own 26.

Pregame note

7:53: Saint Louis wins the coin toss and defers to the second half. Waianae elects to receive. The Crusaders will defend the East end zone.

7:21: The junior varsity game ended in an upset on a muddy Raymond Torii Field. Waianae defeated Saint Louis 25-21. The Crusaders went ahead 21-18 with a minute left, but it was not the final dagger.

The Seariders drove past midfield and then quarterback Terran Penitani hit Titan Jackson in the back corner of the end zone for a long touchdown.


Saint Louis drove past midfield in the final 40 seconds and with one second left, a pass to the right corner of the end zone fell incomplete.
