FB: Seariders waiting on word of possible suspensions

By Paul Honda

As of Thursday morning, there have been no suspensions of Waianae football players following Tuesday’s on-campus brawl.

Administrators are trying to piece together what happened, and until they decide on who will be suspended, Waianae players are moving on.

The Seariders host Castle on Friday night in an Oahu interscholastic Association Red Conference quarterfinal.

“There might have been some players involved. It’s hard to say,” coach Daniel Matsumoto said. “It was just crazy, a riot on campus. We tried to pull the players away and separate them.”

If the suspensions, if any, aren’t announced soon, Matsumoto said the team will continue to move on.

“We’ve kept things as normal as possible,” said Matsumoto, a school counselor. “(Any) suspensions would depend on the severity of the violation. It’s out of my hands. We have to go by school rules, and athletes don’t get any special privileges.”
