Lots of interesting matchups are on tap Thursday through Saturday in the first football controlled scrimmages of the season.

Among the big draws at the fields and stadiums that won’t be charging admission prices are: Saint Louis at Kapolei, Nanakuli at Waianae, and Leilehua at Mililani on Thursday; Kahuku at Mililani on Friday; and Farrington at Punahou, Waianae at ‘Iolani, Fagaitua (American Samoa) vs. Campbell at the Aiea High field, and Kamehameha at Mililani on Saturday.

Farrington had a huge rivalry going with Punahou in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu before the Governors and other schools broke from the then-city-based league to join the Oahu Interscholastic Association in 1970.

A year ago, the Buffanblu won the ILH title and finished as state Division I runners-up after a 53-45 loss to Mililani in the final. The Governors finished third in the OIA and made it to the state semifinals, where they lost 17-14 to Mililani.

Hawaii Prep World learned on Thursday that Farrington will head to Kamehameha’s Kunuiakea Stadium for a Thursday 6 p.m. scrimmage.
