Undefeated KIF champion Kapaa is the No. 1 overall seed in the First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA Division II state football tournament.
The Warriors will host a semifinal game at Vidinha Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 14, against the winner of a first-round game between MIL champion Lahainaluna and OIA runner-up Kaimuki.
The Bulldogs will travel to the Valley Isle to play the Lunas on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m.
In the other first-round game, ILH Division II champion Damien will head to the Big Island to face No. 3 seed Konawena on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m.
The ILH didn’t receive one of the four seeded berths that ended up going to the OIA, MIL, KIF and BIIF.
It is the first time since 2006 that the ILH has not received a seeded berth in the Division II tournament and the first time a KIF school has had the top seed since Kauai in 2006.
The winner between the Wildcats and Monarchs will play OIA D-II champion Radford on Saturday, Nov. 14, at Roosevelt at 5 p.m.
The Division II state final will be held Friday, Nov. 20, at 4:30 p.m. at Aloha Stadium.
The top seed has won six of 12 tournaments, Lahainaluna has been the top seed in each of the past two years but lost both times, including in its first game in 2013. The only other time the top seed lost in the semifinals was the first tournament in 2003 when Waimea fell to Damien.
