Allisen Corpuz took a 2-shot lead over Punahou teammate Mariel Galdiano on Monday in the girls portion of the David S. Ishii Foundation State Golf Championships at Wailua Golf Course on Kauai.

Corpuz was a runner-up to Galdiano — who has won three state crowns in a row — a year ago and finished third three years ago as a freshman.

Corpuz went 35-35—70 and is 2 under. Galdiano is at even par, with two girls — Lorraine Char of Kamehameha and Erica Chiang of Mid-Pacific at 1-over 73.

The second round is Tuesday, when a champion will be crowned.

Punahou also leads the team standings at 219, with Mid-Pacific and ‘Iolani tied for second at 232.
