2 Red Raiders among 4 added to Poly Bowl

The inaugural Polynesian Bowl continues to fill out its roster with the addition of four more players from Hawaii.

Kahuku safety Codie Sauvao and linebacker Sioeli Naupoto have accepted invites as has Punahou kicker Jeff Chan and Saint Louis defensive back Jalen Saole.

The bowl is expected to officially announce those additions today.


Saole made two solo tackles and helped hold Kahuku without a pass completion in Saint Louis’ 30-14 win over the Red Raiders in the Open Division state final on Saturday at Aloha Stadium.

Naupoto tied for a team-high with nine tackles and had Kahuku’s only sack against Saint Louis while Sauvao finished with eight tackles and forced a fumble.


The Polynesian Bowl, a high school football all-star game for current seniors, is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 21 at Aloha Stadium and will be televised to the mainland on ESPN3.

    Chan and Takeyama, so much for Polynesian bowl. Nothing against these kids but Cmon guys no Poly’s just as deserving?
