1957 prep football all-star teams

Undefeated ILH champion Roosevelt finished with more than half of the players selected to the ILH football all-star first team chosen by the Honolulu Advertiser in 1957.

Roosevelt halfback Milton Kam was the only repeat selection and Punahou junior tackle Lindsey Kinney and fullback Ben Samson were the only underclassmen to make the team.

The Rough Riders dominated the line with four unanimous selections — end Joe Meyer, tackle Faatautau Salanoa, guard Francois Wallace and center Tom Price.

Wallace was named the Star-Bulletin’s lineman of the year and Rough Riders quarterback Dan Cuban was the back of the year.

Rural Oahu Interscholastic League champion Waipahu dominated the Advertiser’s Rural all-star team with six of the 11 selections.

Kahuku center Louis Santiago and Marauders end Francis Taufaasau were the only sophomores named to the first team.

Waipahu fullback Jerry Yokono was the only repeat selection for the Advertiser first team while the Star-Bulletin had three repeat selections — Yokono, Castle guard Milton Kaonihi and Kailua utility Lewellyn Wailehua.
