Funny how the ILH can win
14 of the last 16 Girls volleyball titles
15 of the last 16 boys volleyball titles
10 of the last 16 boys soccer titles
8 of the last 16 girls soccer titles
11 of the last 16 boys basketball titles
15 of the last 16 water polo titles

and yet I dont see three divisions being created for those sports. But when the OIA wins 2 football titles in a row now the ILH wants to create 3 divisions and throw a second ILH team into the open division to better their chances of winning? If that is not an Elitist move I dont know what is. Cant blame them…they got rich parents paying big money for their children to be on championship teams.

The fake D1 states was created for 1. Iolani to get an automatic berth in D1 ships. 2. Two ILH teams to play in the Open. After all that money for private tuition, going home each year with participation neck medals make a.

  6. Helflyer October 10, 2016 9:37 pm

Create another division to marginalize the current dynasty of d1 champions. They still need to win and they won’t this year, and we’ll end up creating a fourth division until they get what they want…an ILH winner.

    Merry christmas

  8. cris cringle October 10, 2016 10:52 pm

How can Iolani qualify for D1? They didn’t even win a game in their division. Somethings not right.

  9. Aaron October 10, 2016 11:48 pm

what’s so bad about having more good football games in the state tournament? I mean, back in the Prep Bowl days the distribution was even more uneven than it is now (1 from the ILH, 1 from the OIA, and none from any of the other leagues) and no one complained. The ILH may disproportionately benefit, but the OIA will have almost half of its membership playing state tournament games so who is really losing out? This needs to be done as a first step towards doing the right thing and merging the OIA and ILH to create a 3-division format, which would result in getting a state tournament that looks a lot like what we have this year.

Oh, and don’t accuse me of an ILH bias! I went public skoo! I just want to see better high school football games among even competition.

  10. Mahatma Gandhi October 11, 2016 2:33 am

Trust me, getting 2 teams in the Open tourney has nothing do do with the ILH trying to increase their chances of bringing home the koa trophy. From what I can discern, it was Kale Ane (grandson of the former longtime Honolulu mayor Neal Blaisdell) who insisted 2 ILH teams be included. That was probably because he gets 2 Div 1 players back from injury by November. I think a lot of ILH administrations despise St Louis because of how they destroyed the competitive balance of Hawaii state high school football with their excessive recruiting from 1982 to 2000. I suspect Kale Ane will pull for Kahuku if Punahou gets knocked out in the semifnal round. Call Lee too, I say he roots for Kahuku too against Punahou.

Even if Iolani won the ILH postseason tournament (as likely as me banging a supermodel), wouldn’t they still plan in D1 and not the Open?

  12. i love 88 October 11, 2016 9:08 am

YAWN!! I mean after ANYWAAAYS/TOOMEKE got called out publicly to meet but didn’t, she continues to come back with the same TIRED insults.

I mean anywaaays, can you come with fresh and exciting material? It’s getting quite tired and at no point is it funny.

May I ask why you didn’t show up to meet E.F. when he called you out? Oh yeah I forgot, you are only tough in the internet. But then again, so is everyone else….

  13. i love 88 October 11, 2016 9:11 am

now anyways is begging. I am not any of those guys. But if it makes you feel good, then so be it. I am just wondering why you don’t show up after you call guys out when you were asked to meet?

The entire blogging world knows you a coward. You can call us little boys but I am not the one who didn’t have the sacks to show, haha.

    #crickets

HAHA that is so lame too.

Sorry, bro. Your analogy was stupid. You can do all the name calling and accusations you want, but the analogy doesn’t hold water.

    u mad bro?

  15. JJ October 11, 2016 7:03 pm

So Iolani will go 0-7 in their conference and get a spot in the D1 state tourney? What an absolute joke!

  16. me October 11, 2016 7:57 pm

The third place finisher in the ILH should be in the D1 state tournament not 0-7 Iolani.

  17. Chloropicrin October 11, 2016 8:05 pm

Shouldn’t Kamehameha get the spot over Iolani? They already beat them once, and will probably beat them again…this is a joke. How’s about once big 12 or 16 team tourney. If you’re good, you advance, if not get better and come back next year. Combine all the leagues and divisions.

  18. Kailua Boys October 11, 2016 8:28 pm

Yeah i don’t get why the OIA people made kamehameha declare which one they had to go too. That made zero sense?! Where in the OIA you could see someone like Kahuku play in the division 1 tournament if they lost there intial games.

Kamehameha and Iolani should play for the right to represent D1 if one of them don’t make it to the finals. Same as if Iolani were to win the ILH, they should go to the open.

Let the record dictate post season. Why does the ILH have all these wierd stipulations?

  19. Chloropicrin October 11, 2016 9:05 pm

Kamehameha is the one getting the big ILH weenie in this scenario foreal. Finish 3rd and go nowhere, unlike Iolani, lose every ILH game against the top 3 ILH teams and get a berth in D1.

  20. Hauula93 October 11, 2016 9:27 pm

The top 8 for the OIA should be next years regular season schedule…It’s only fair that the top 4 goes to the open divison and bottom 4 goes to D1… Even if they got losing records.. ILH is doing it.. Sending Iolani to D1 division with a losing record… Why don’t the ILH have the same tournament too? Top 2 goes to open division and bottom 2 play for D1 division.. Top 2 plays for seeding and bottom 2 plays for entry in D1 tournament… This makes more sense or is it too much games for ILH to risk injuries? OIA does it.. ILH want this tournament to be fair, so let it be fair… Kamehameha gets no fairness in this tournament or is Kamehameha playing St.Louis for the third time and winner play punahou for the third time… Where’s the fairness in this.. This is so stupid… HHSAA needs re-evaluate their decision and just be FAIR…SMDH.. RR4L…

  21. ImuaKahuku October 12, 2016 2:05 am

It’s obvious there is some “chicanery” going on here. The “Open” division is a farce. It is D-1 and the new D-1 tourney needs to be the Open division (but should be called the Consolation division). As it is, Iolani (0-6) can go on a run and beat a bunch of middling teams, never face the top of the OIA and not have to go through St. Louis or Punahou (or even Kamehameha for that matter) and pull off a D-1 championship. And as was stated in reports earlier this year, they would have their name placed on the same trophy as Kahuku, Punahou, Millilani, St. Louis, and so on. Sorry but that is an offense to all the boys that played on those teams and rose up to beat the best in Hawaii to be the best in Hawaii to get their School’s name put on that trophy.

  22. Manley October 12, 2016 10:06 am

Okay, next year let’s have 2 ILH teams in the Open championship, (Punahou/St.Louis) 1 team in the D1(Kamehameha) and 1 in the D2 (Iolani). That way ALL ILH D1 teams will participate in Post season. HHSAA ,can you make this happen? In order for Kamehameha to play, they need to get an alumni in the HHSAA. No Hawaiians,No Aloha!!

  23. Helflyer October 12, 2016 3:22 pm

I think its as simple as, using the criteria on average W/L record and ratio of point scored for/against over an arbitrary time, lets say 5 years. Set the bar (a number) and if you above it, then you’re in the Open Division and so forth…It’ll be a moving scale every year, those on the cusp will fall off or move up based on the averages you earn.

  24. Hauula93 October 13, 2016 8:19 pm

I thought the ILH want to put the best in the open and D1… To me, Kamehameha is better for the D1, but Iolani get the slot… Why the ILH not complain about this or it’s only for st.louis/punahou to gang up in states.. I thought it was put your best teams ILH.. I guess not…Smdh… Do you see what us OIA fans see…Conspiracy…. MEAN….

  25. ILH makes there own rules October 14, 2016 9:52 pm

ILH lets kids transfer from school to school with no penalty. QB Jake Smothermann played for Iolani last season but is now playing for St. Francis this season. Now how does that happen when there is a clear rule stating that if you transfer from one ILH school to another, you must sit out for a year. Please let the people know how Georges Gilbert and the ILH office let this happen. We will soon find out and the flood gates to transfer in the ILH will be happening on a yearly basis. What are they doing and how does this guy still have his job. The ILH office needs to be investigated and someone needs to start answering questions about this situation and many other situations going on in that league.

  26. ILH makes there own rules October 14, 2016 9:56 pm

Iolani does not deserve to play in the state tournament, even tough they will compete and probably do a good job, its a shame that the ILH and the HHSAA allowed for that to happen. What has come of the ILH? Lack of true leadership…………..

  27. Chloropicrin October 14, 2016 10:18 pm

The D1 bracket should be renamed to the D1 Consolation bracket…
