Wilcox, Johnson top volleyball all-tourney teams

Punahou junior outside hitter Ryan Wilcox was named the most outstanding player in Division I in the New City Nissan/HHSAA Boys Volleyball State Championships on Saturday night at Blaisdell Arena.

Wilcox had a game-high 20 kills and 10 digs in a four-set win over Kamehameha-Hawaii in the final.

Hawaii Baptist junior outside hitter Michael Johnson was named the most outstanding player in the Division II tournament. Johnson hit .250 with a match-high 13 kills and 15 digs in a sweep of Kapaa in the final.


Punahou has won six straight D-I crowns and Hawaii Baptist has won seven in a row in Division II.
