Hot, slightly breezy afternoon at Kaiser, which hosts Kailua. Kaiser’s Kamalu Simeona vs. Kailua lefty Joey Cantilo.

    1st

Simeon’s walks the third batter in the lineup, Dalton Kalama, but that’s all.

Castillo strikes out Simeona and Lincoln Lima as the side goes in order.


    2nd

Eight runs in the top of the second for the Surfriders. Noah Ah Yat with a bases-loaded triple to make it 3-0. Brendan Odo with a two-run triple, 5-0.

Kalama with an RBI single, 6-0. Lawson Faris with an RBI triple to deep center, 7-0. Cantillo, who led off the inning, doubles to left, Faria scores, 8-0.

Bottom 2nd, Kainoa Torres reached Ina throwing error by SA Destin Imanaka. Emmett Covello swings and misses on a third strike, catcher Daniel Thomas drops he pitch and his throw to first sails high. Torres scored on the play. Kainoa Craig flies to right for the third out. Kailua 8, Kaiser 1.

    3rd

Simeona settles down, Kailua goes down in order.

Cantillo also sets Kaiser down 1-2-3.

    4th

Another 1-2-3 inning by Simeona, who has seized control of his breaking ball.


Kaiser goes 1-2-3 against Cantillo. Third out on a grounder by Torres that glanced off the pitcher’s glove to Odo at second base. 1-4-3 putout.

    5th

Simeona in a groove. Strikes out Cantillo, Keiki Kanahele-Santos and Joseph Byers. Four K’s in a row.

Craig reaches on an infield single, the first hit allowed by Cantillo. But that’s it for Kaiser.

    6th

Kailua tacks on two more runs off Simeona. Ah Yat singles, Imanaka singles and Odo grounds to first, scoring Ah Yat. Kalama doubles to left-center, scoring Imanaka. Kailua 10-1.

Kaiser goes 1-2-3 as Cantillo records his 10th strikeout. With zero walks. Masterful.

    7th

New pitcher for Kaiser: Antonio Omphroy. Simeona battled back nicely. He struck out six, walked four.


Kalama, the DH today, pitches the last inning. He allows one infield single and strikes out one.

Carrillo: one hit, no earned runs, 10 K’s. No walks.
