Kamehameha wrestler Teshya Alo has done so much on the mat in her 16 years on the planet.
Now she will be the subject of a documentary at this year’s Hawaii International Film Festival.
Alo, the reigning FILA Cadet world champion in wrestling, has already won a state title in judo and two in wrestling and led the Warriors girls to the team title at last year’s state wrestling championships. She has only lost two matches in her career.
The movie is titled ‘Winning Girl’ and will premier on Sunday at 5:15 at the Regal Dole Cannery Stadium 18. Tickets can be purchased at www.hiff.org. An encore screening will take place Saturday, November 8 at 12:30pm at Koko Marina Theatres in Hawaii Kai.
Alo wrestles for Ku Lokahi Wrestling Club in Kalihi and is a member of the Pearl City Hongwanji Judo Club.
Here, via youtube, is a peek at the first two minutes of the film, which was made by Kimberlee Bassford and Making Waves Films. The crew followed Alo, 16, around to selected events since she was 12 years old.
