Kalan Ellis is a tough guy to miss.
Basketball court. Football field. The 6-foot-5, 350-pound Saint Louis offensive lineman wasn’t hard for Hawaii to find. The Warriors took a close look and made him a scholarship offer recently. Offensive line coach Sam Bennett made the connection.
“Coach Bennett called me up. They were really interested in my film. Next thing you know, they offered me. It was within a day. They were really impressed. They like my size and my footwork. They don’t really care about my weight, as long as I can move,” said Ellis, who does the discus and shot put.
Ellis is one of 16 current high school juniors with at least one FBS offer. To see a complete list, click here.
Not satisfied, Ellis continues to put his time in. He’s in the weight room aiming for a higher bench-press number. He also wants to improve his 40-yard dash time.
He was one of many Crusaders who visited Ali’iolani Elementary School on Friday morning to work out with the young students.
