Perfect Game honors 10 from Hawaii

Perfect Game and Rawlings released its preseason All-America underclassmen baseball teams on Thursday and recognized three players from Hawaii.

Campbell pitcher Markus Ramos, a 6-foot-3 junior, was named to the high honorable mention team while Hilo outfielder Michael Bello and Saint Louis left-hander Dawson Yamaguchi earned honorable mention honors.

Ramos has committed to Oregon while Bello, a 5-foot-10 sophomore, has pledged to Saint Mary’s. Yamaguchi, a 5-foot-10 junior, is uncommitted but had University of Hawaii assistant Carl Fraticelli at a game recently to watch him pitch.


On Tuesday, Perfect Game and Rawlings released its annual preseason All-America and All-Region teams to recognize the top high school senior baseball athletes in the United States.

Maui outfielder Kingsley Ballao, who has signed with Fresno State, was named to the All-West Region first team. Hilo right-hander Caleb Freitas-Fields, Saint Louis outfielder John Kea, Mid-Pacific infielder Jacob Maekawa, Saint Louis catcher Taylor Meilleur, Mililani right-hander Keolu Ramos and Pearl City outfielder Matthew Yokota were all named honorable mention.
