
Pearl City freshman Sunshine Fontes was honored by Gatorade as the girls soccer player of the year.
Fontes led the Chargers to the state title in the winter and was the Star-Advertiser’s first freshman to be named state player of the year.
The Gatorade award is independent of the Star-Advertiser’s list and this is the first time in two years the two entities agreed on the player of the year. Past Star-Advertiser selections with Gatorade winners in parenthesis where it differs:
