OIA softball playoffs begin on Wednesday

The Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I softball playoffs begin on Wednesday with four quarterfinal-round games.

Castle (6-6), the fourth-place team in the East, will host West 5 Kapolei (5-7). The winner will visit West 1 Campbell (12-0), the defending league champion, on Thursday in the quarterfinals.

Mililani (7-5), the West’s third-place team, will entertain Kalani (4-8), the East’s sixth-place team. The victor will play at East 2 Kaiser (8-4) on Thursday.


The sixth-place team from the West, Pearl City (4-8), will travel to East 3 Moanalua (6-6). The Pearl City-Moanalua winner will visit West 2 Leilehua (7-5) on Thursday.

Waianae (7-5), one of the West’s top two teams early in the regular season, finished fourth and will host East 5 Kailua (6-6). The Waianae-Kailua winner will meet East 1 Roosevelt (12-0) at Stevenson Intermediate School on Thursday.


Games on Wednesday and Thursday will begin at 3 p.m. The semifinals on Friday and final on Saturday will be played at McKinley Tiger Softball Stadium.

The OIA D-II playoffs will also begin on Wednesday. The six-team field has an opening-round bye for top seeds Nanakuli (7-3) and Waialua (7-3).


Fifth-place Kahuku (5-5) will visit fourth-place Radford (5-5), with the winner visiting Nanakuli on Thursday. Sixth-place Waipahu (5-5) will travel to third-place McKinley (7-3), with the winner going to Waialua on Thursday.

The championship game will be on Saturday at Tiger Stadium.
