Kamehameha’s Blaysen Terukina and Leilehua’s Liam Corbett are two wins away from their third straight Officials titles.
Terukina made it through the first day of the 132-pound bracket with a pin of Kailua’s Koalii Santos in 1:10 before pinning Roosevelt’s Zachary Foster in 4:25. Things get harder in the tournament’s toughest bracket, though, with Pac-Five’s Joseph Fong waiting in the semifinals and either Antonio Ruiz of Moanalua or top seed Shandon Ilaban-Totten looming in the title match.
Corbett, Hawaiiprepworld’s top pound-for-pound boy, cruised through the 160 pound bracket with a 23-8 technical fall over Campbell’s Micah Tumpap in the second round and pinned Paxton Horiuchi of Mililani in 4:16 in the second. He faces Kaiser’s Keith Jones in the semifinals Saturday morning.
