After handing Kamehameha-Hawaii its first loss of the season in the BIIF championship game, the Hilo Vikings will enter the New City Nissan/HHSAA Girls Volleyball State Championships as the No. 6-ranked team in the state according to the latest Honolulu Star-Advertiser Girls Volleyball Top 10.

The Vikings are two spots ahead of the Warriors, who dropped to No. 8 following the four-set loss. KS-Hawaii will open its Division I state tournament this afternoon hosting Waianae at 4 p.m.

The winner will draw No. 4 Mililani, seeded second in the tournament, in Thursday’s quarterfinals.

The top four teams in the state remain the same with Punahou jumping into KS-Hawaii’s spot at No. 5.

‘Iolani, ranked No. 2, hosts Kapolei, which dropped out of the rankings, tonight at 6 in the opening round of the state tournament. A potential match between two of the top three teams in the state looms in Thursday’s quarterfinals. A Raiders victory over the Hurricanes would set up a match with MIL champion and No. 3 seed King Kekaulike, which is also ranked No. 3 in the state.

Kahuku, which was swept by Mililani in the OIA D-I title game, remains at No. 7. The Red Raiders open their state tournament tonight hosting Farrington.

Unranked Kamehameha-Maui hosts No. 10 Moanalua tonight with the winner getting the No. 1 team in the state, Kamehameha, in Thursday’s quarterfinals.

Na Menehune is tied for the No. 10 ranking with Damien, which finished second in the ILH after losing twice to Mid-Pacific last week.

The Owls jump into the rankings this week for the first time at No. 9.

Le Jardin (seven), Kapolei (four), Waianae (two) and Sacred Hearts (one) also received votes this week.

The rankings are below followed by schedules for both Division I and Division in this week’s state tournament.
