Defending state champion Punahou is the No. 1 seed as it goes for back-to-back state titles for the fourth time since 2006 in the Queen’s Medical Center/HHSAA Boys Soccer State Championships beginning Monday.

Since Mililani won four in a row from 2001-04, Punahou is the only team to repeat as state champion but hasn’t won three straight during the span. The Buffanblu have won seven of the last 15 titles overall and will open their tournament next Thursday against the winner between Kaiser and Hilo.

OIA champion Kapolei will make its 12th consecutive appearance in the state tournament but has yet to raise a trophy. The Hurricanes are the No. 2 seed.

BIIF champion Waiakea, making its second state appearance since 2012, is the No. 3 seed, followed by MIL champion King Kekaulike as the No. 4 seed.

Na Alii is in the tournament for a fourth consecutive season.

Mililani which owns the longest active streak of consecutive state appearances at 13, will opens its tournament Monday at Kamehameha-Maui. Kalani hosts Pearl City and Kalaheo will visit ‘Iolani in two first-round games held on Oahu.

The seeded teams in Division II, which begins its tournament next Thursday, are No. 1 Kapaa, No. 2 Hawaii Prep, No. 3 Pac-Five and No. 4 Aiea.
