Bentosino gloves it but falls to the ground and throws Okamoto out from his knees. What a play. Pangan ahead 3-1 and he crushes a ball out to dead center. It’s over the head of Sampson and Pangan gets a double. Tying run on second with one out for Lima. Lima with a shot back up the middle but Robinson stabs it and holds the runner at second before throwing to first for the second out. A 1-0 pitch to Craig hits him in the back of the foot. Omphroy now up. Tying run at second. Go-ahead run at first. Omphroy with a grounder to second and that’s it. Sabers hold on.
Pono Lyman in the game in relief of Asuncion (5 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 K). Sampson dumps a 1-2 pitch into right field, going with the pitch for a leadoff single. Takahama bunts Sampson into scoring position. Clemons with a fly ball to center that is caught and the runner is held at second. Two outs. Markus Ramos will pinch hit in the pitcher spot. Ramos drills a line drive to center and it’s off the glove of the centerfielder, who overran it a tad. The ball was smoked and it goes for an RBI triple. Ramos comes up big to give Sabers a 5-4 lead.
Lima draws a leadoff walk to reach base for the third time. Craig gets ahead 2-0 and then doubles to left-center to move Lima to third. That’s it for Kalaola. Ayzek Silva, a sophomore left-hander, on in relief. He has been the closer this year for the Sabers. Omphroy hits a 2-1 pitch to center and it bounces in and then past Sampson in center. Omphroy credited with one RBI on the single but two runs are in and Omphroy ends up on second as the tying run with nobody out. Torres with a grounder to short and Omphroy takes off for the third even though the ball was in front of him and it’s an easy 5-6 putout at third. Chun follows with a single through the left side and it’s first and second with one out for pinch hitter Micah Mashima. Mashima smokes a line drive OFF the glove of Bentosino at second and into the outfield. Torres comes around to score and it’s tied 4-4. Campbell coach Rory Pico leaves Silva in and he gets the 4-6-3 double play to end the inning.
Clemons hits the ball off the third baseman, who tries to pick the ball up off the bounce but airmails the throw to first for the first error of the game. Pinch runner Shayden Banaay goes to second on the bunt. Reiny Aloy drops a bunt and Torres goes to third but Banaay beats it and it’s a sacrifice fielder’s choice. Runners at the corners for Shimizu, who rips a line drive to left for a single to score the go-ahead run. Asuncion flustered a little and then is called for a balk. Two runners now in scoring position as Ka’aihue comes out for a mound visit. Ganancial with a hit to center and it falls just in front of the diving attempt by Matsumoto and it’s a two-run double for Ganancial to make it 4-1. Another ball to center and Matsumoto this time with the diving catch. Heckuva catch for the second out to rob a hit. Fly ball to right ends the inning.
