LIVE BLOG: Championship matches at Officials

The finals of the Hawaii Officials Tournament will take place later this afternoon. We will update the blog with the finals matchups as the semifinals are completed and then bring you live results of the finals from Leilehua.

Note: Eight boys wrestlers and six girls wrestlers in The Star-Advertiser’s Top 10 Pound-For-Pound Rankings have advanced to the finals. The six other wrestlers who are ranked are not here.

Boys and girls finals going on concurrently.

Boys 106 pounds
>> (1) Nicholas Cordeiro (Waianae) vs. (2) Brayden Spain (Waiakea)
Result: Cordeiro def. Spain 9-1.

Girls 97 pounds
>> (1) Liana Ferreira (Baldwin) vs. (2) Erin Hikiji (Mililani)
Result: Hikiji def. Ferreira 10-1.

Boys 113 pounds
>> (1) Tobey Ravida (Baldwin) vs. (2) Scott Fujishima (Pac-Five)
Result: Ravida def. Fukushima 11-8.
Fujishima with a 5-4 lead. Ravida with three near-fall points

Girls 102 pounds
>> Isabelle Asuncion (Moanalua) vs. (2) Mya Cullen-Leong (Campbell)
Result: Asuncion def. Cullen-Leong 11-2.
Cullen-Leong with a quick 2-0 lead. Were tied at 2-2 in the second. Asuncion with a 5-2 lead. Make that 8-2. Asuncion dominated after a show start.

Boys 120 pounds

Result: Asuncion def. Magsayo 3-2.
Still scoreless after first. Magsayo up 2-1.

Result: Villalpando def. Funakoshi 11-2.

Corral up 5-0 in the first. Moniz scores with an escape, but it’s 7-1 Corral.

Boys 132 pounds

Result: Terukina def. Kaawa 5-3.
The match was delayed for blood on Kaawa.

    I believe Taam is almost fully healed from his injury. He just participated in the national Ironman tournament for state champions.

    Great Respect to those who battled! Great job by all but Terukina -Estrella-few others stood out. SHAME on those who did not complete who were not injured 🤕In other words SCARED TO COMPETE .
