Kamehameha senior defensive end Jonah Welch has narrowed his college choice to five schools.

Welch, who is 6-foot-2 and 230 pounds and was invited to the Polynesian Bowl last month, holds offers from seven schools.

He tweeted today that he has cut Army and Nevada from his list, leaving Air Force, Hawaii, Navy, Syracuse and Vanderbilt as the remaining schools.

Kamehameha’s season is on the line Friday against Punahou in the first game of the ILH second round. The winner will play No. 1 Saint Louis the following week while the loser calls it a season.

The Warriors have played both ILH foes tough in recent weeks, giving the Crusaders their closest game of the season to a team from Hawaii in a 23-12 loss two weeks ago.

Welch forced a fumble in a 21-17 loss to Punahou three weeks ago.
