With Kaiser’s Malia Nam not in the field, Miki Manta of Kalani earned her first win of the OIA golf season on Monday at Hoakalei Golf Course.

Manta, the reigning OIA champion, shot a 76 on the par-72 layout to beat the field by seven strokes. Teammate Michelle Kim was second with an 83 and nobody else broke 90 but the Falcons had three of the top four golfers with Melissa Yago taking fourth with a 92.

It was the best score of the season for Manta, who shot an 80 at Hawaii Prince and a 78 at Makalena this year.

For the second straight tournament, the boys winner came from out of nowhere.

Kalani’s Brayden Miguel shot a 78 at Hoakalei to beat Mililani’s Jarryd Gano by two strokes for his first victory of the season.

Miguel’s results in the first three tournaments of the year were 28th at Hawaii Prince with a 95, 24th at Mililani with an 85 and 30th at Makalena with an 86.

The circuit takes a break until March 20 when it visits Ala Wai Golf Course.
