Hawaii’s best girls volleyball teams had a rough day at the first day of ‘Iolani’s Ann Kang Invitational on Thursday.

Sure, the Raiders defended their home court all three times they played, but their fellow Hawaii schools combined to go 6-12.

‘Iolani swept Los Alamitos, Kingwood and Sage Hill, with only one of them earning more than 20 points in a set. Santa Margarita Was the only other school to sweep all three of their matches, including a 25-23, 25-14 win over No. 2 Punahou. The Buffanblu won both of their other matches.

No. 5 Hawaii Baptist and No. 7 Moanalua lost all three of their matches, with the Eagles not winning a single set and Na Menehune taking just one, off Le Jardin of the ILH. No. 4 Kahuku won its last match to improve to 2-1 and Le Jardin went 2-1. Iolani I-AA was winless at 0-3.

Friday’s second day begins with Santa Margarita and Mira Costa atop Pool A at 3-0 and Iolani and Edison atop Pool B with perfect records.
