‘Iolani’s early season girls volleyball resume is impressive. The Raiders won their annual Ann Kang Invitational earlier this month and have some good wins over big-name mainland teams.
They have also beaten arch rival Kamehameha in the team’s only matchup so far, and that’s a big reason why they’re a unanimous No. 1 in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser’s Top 10.
The Raiders are the defending Division I state champions. They have wins so far against four California teams (Palos Verdes, San Juan Hills, Mater Dei and Long Beach Poly) and two against Oak Ridge, Texas.
The Warriors, Punahou, Kahuku and Moanalua round out the top five.
King Kekaulike and of the Maui Interscholastic League and Hilo of the Big Island Interscholastic Federation cracked the Top 10 at Nos. 9 and 10.
Four other outer-island teams received votes.
