‘Iolani girls place 17th at Durango Fall Classic

‘Iolani took 17th place out of 64 teams in the Durango Fall Classic girls volleyball tournnament last weekend in Las Vegas.

The Raiders, who are the No. 1 team in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser Top 10, also won the Bronze Division final with a 25-15, 25-12 victory over Clovis (Calif.) in the tournament hosted by Durango High.

After pool play, the 64 teams were broken into divisions of eight teams each. The top eight teams went for the Gold Division championship; the next eight competed in the Silver Division, etc.


Kamehameha, the third-ranked team in the Star-Advertiser poll, placed 25th in the tournament and won the Competition Division (the fourth tier) final with a 17-25, 25-15, 25-23 win over Liberty (Bakersfield, Calif.).
