Hawaii Prep Ka Makani girls capture title at Arizona Soccer Showcase

Hawaii Prep went to the desert and has emerged as a champion at the Arizona Soccer Showcase.

Ka Makani girls captured the Women’s Open Premier Silver Elite Bracket B with a 3-0 record on Monday. Hawaii Prep defeated Cactus Shadows 4-1 on Friday and edged Mountain View 1-0 on Saturday. They blanked Desert Mountain 3-0 on Monday to reach the final.

HPA then defeated Liberty (Ariz.) 3-1 to claim the crown. Alianna West scored at the 11-minute mark with an assist by Malia Brost for the first goal. Kahele Walsh delivered a pass to Angela Cipriano at the 64-minute mark, and Walsh fed Malia Brost at the 76-minute mark.

“We’re heading back home on Tuesday,” said HPA coach Steve Perry, who has guided Ka Makani to six Division II state championships in a row. “We need our warm weather.”
