Punahou senior Lia Foster had a hand in three wins at Friday’s ILH swim meet at her home pool.
Foster began her day leading the Buffanblu to first place in the 200 medley relay, an event she has helped Punahou win at states the last three years. She has eight gold medals at states in all.
She joined with fellow senior Madison Meister, freshman Tori Gacutan and sophomore Daralyn Wen to cover the distance in 1:52.63 to beat Kamehameha by more than two seconds. None of the three girls swam with Foster in the event in the state meet last year.
Foster then aced her two individual events, beating Pac-Five freshman Casey Garcia in the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.26. She was the only girl to go under a minute.
Foster finished her day with a win in the 100 breast, earning a time of 1:10.52 to lead Punahou’s sweep of the top three spots. Nicole Halemano was second and Dillyn Lietzke was third.
Swimmers to double up as winners on Friday included Mid-Pacific’s Michael Petrides and MJ Mao and Albert Zhi of Pac-Five.
