Cantillo makes MaxPreps national team

CBS MaxPreps picked Joey Cantillo to its 2017 All-American baseball team, the website announced Tuesday.


Cantillo, a left-handed pitcher who led Kailua to its second straight Oahu Interscholastic Association championship, was one of 31 players to make the second team. Thirty-one players were picked to the first team.


Cantillo, who is 6-foot-4 and 200 pounds, recently signed with the San Diego Padres and received a signing bonus of $302,500 after he was selected in the 16th round.
