Jocelyn Alo is going from one championship program to another.
The Campbell catcher helped lead the Sabers to the Division I state title in May and signed with reigning NCAA champion Oklahoma on Wednesday.
Alo was named the Star-Advertiser All-State Position Player of the Year as a junior and joins an Oklahoma program that has won three national championships under coach Patty Gasso and two in the last four years. They went 57-8 last season and edged Auburn 2-1 in the championship series.
“Jocelyn was a late addition and I’m really pleased we found each other; she comes from a very strong line of athletes,” Gasso said in Oklahoma’s announcement of its signing class. “I’m so excited about getting her here where we can work with her daily. I think she is going to be a pitcher’s nightmare.”
Alo certainly was last season when she hit .612 with eight home runs and 30 RBIs after transferring from Kahuku to Campbell. She went 7-for-9 and drove in eight run in the state tournament and had a homer and a triple in Campbell’s 12-2 win over Kapolei in the final.
