The top of the Hawaii Prep World Pound-for-pound held steady at Officials, with No. 1 KJ Pascua earning three pins and No. 2 Corey Cabanban dominating before winning a tough final.

Cabanban’s opponent at 120, Jayson Pagurayan of Kapolei, jumped two spots to No. 5 on the list despite the loss because of his performance to get there. He beat two ranked wrestlers on his way to the final.

The glut at 120 shook up a bit, with Logan Garcia of Moanalua fighting back through consolations while Campbell’s Triston Santos failed to make weight for the second day after losing to Pagurayan.

Other risers included Joseph Fong of Hawaii Baptist, who took his first Officials title with a win over Waianae’s Ke’alii Keliinoi. The Searider dropped out despite having an MIT title to his credit and losing only to Fong.

Kainalu Estrella of Lahainaluna entered the rankings after completing the MIT/Officials sweep and looking dominant until the final when he beat Punahou’s Nick Stefanelli 3-1. Baldwin’s Jayden Ferreira also completed the sweep, pinning his way through Officials after winning all three matches at the Garner Ivey by decision, two of them close affairs.

Campbell’s Zayren Terukina jumped into the No. 10 spot in Sai Fautanu of Iolani’s spot for his performance at Officials. Fautanu missed the tournament to attend a trip, and Terukina was never really challenged with a pin and two major decisions.

Terukina enters the rankings a year after Kamehameha’s Blaysen Terukina was a solid top five the past two years before graduating.

He might not be the only Terukina vying for the main event at states when the big show rolls around. Kamehameha’s Kysen Terukina added an Officials title as well, cruising through the bracket except for a narrow 2-1 win over Kapolei’s Andre Pagurayan.

Terukinas have placed at states in eight of the last nine years with 2012 being the only exception. The surname has collected 10 state titles over the years with Blaysen earning two, Shayden earning three, Ben taking three and Darryl earning two.

Terukinas have won five Officials titles in the last four years.
