Kamehameha junior Keonilei Akana and ‘Iolani junior Elena Oglivie were named to the all-tournament team at the Durango Fall Classic for leading their teams to high finishes in the elite field.
Akana helped the Warriors finish in sixth place and the Raiders ended the tournament in ninth. Kamehameha made it into the championship division but got swept 25-17, 25-22 by Redondo Union (Calif.), which made it to the title match before losing to Assumption (Ky.). The Warriors came back to sweep Cathedral Catholic (Calif.) 25-19, 25-19 but lost the fifth-place match 25-18, 25-18 to Torrey Pines (Calif.).
‘Iolani slipped into the silver divison and had its way with the weaker field. The Raiders beat Skyview (Idaho) 12-25, 27-25, 25-22; swept Central (Calif.) 25-18, 25-19 and then took out Walton (Ga.) 25-13, 22-25, 25-18 for the championship.
Walton is ranked No. 2 in the latest USA Today Super 25 behind No. 1 Assumption. Torrey Pines is No. 7.
Iolani was kicked into the silver division when it lost a tough one, 18-25, 25-19, 25-18 to Marymount (Calif.), which went 0-2 in the championship bracket.
