2 Big Isle softball players invited to MLB/USA breakthrough camp

Kamehameha-Hawaii sophomore shortstop Kawehi Ili and Konawaena sophomore catcher Jayla Medeiros have been selected as two of the 60 players from across the nation and Canada to participate in the MLB/USA Softball Breakthrough Series.

According to a news release from MLB.com, the event is a special amateur development camp designed for high school softball players and will be held during Memorial Day weekend in Kansas City, Mo.


Ili and Medeiros will receive:


>> Instruction from former Team USA stars, including Jennie Finch and Natasha Watley
>> A visit to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum
>> A career chat at Kauffman Stadium, home of the Kansas City Royals
>> A ticket to a Royals vs. New York Yankees game
