Moanalua’s Morton to play soccer at Chaminade

Chaminade signed Moanalua boys soccer midfielder Tyler Morton to a national letter of intent, coach Zach Kingsley announced Thursday. Morton scored 17 goals for Na Menehune in his recently completed senior season. He was also named as the OIA East player of the year. Morton also was picked to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser’s All-State second team.

Saint Louis to replace hoops, soccer coaches

Saint Louis School will be making coaching changes in basketball and soccer, according to athletic director Wade Okamura. Keith Spencer, who spent four years as the head coach of the Crusaders basketball team, will not return for next season. Saint Louis is coming off a 5-5 ILH season. D-I colleges interested in Kapolei’s Hopeau

Shandon Hopeau scored 20 goals and added 13 assists this season for Kapolei in boys soccer. He was a real team leader at midfield and he was named the OIA West player of the year. He is a likely selection for athe Honolulu Star-Advertiser’s All-State team, which comes out in the Sunday edition. ‘Iolani’s Spencer Ho and Mid-Pacific’s Tyler Allen were named the co-offensive MVPs of ILH boys soccer. Punahou goalkeeper Connor Goo was chosen as the defensive MVP, and Mid-Pacific’s Jayson Abe earned coach of the year honors. Kapolei’s Shandon Hopeau and Moanalua’s Tyler Morton were voted the player of the year in their divisions by the OIA coaches. Hopeau scored more than 20 goals and passed out more than 10 assists for the Hurricanes, who took third in the OIA tournament after a loss to Kalani.
