Salanoa’s Rams itching for full game

By Billy Hull on August 25, 2015

The Radford Rams might be the only team in the country to have as many wins as quarters played. Yes, you read that right. The Rams are 2-0 despite playing only 24 minutes of actual game time following a 43-0 win over Roosevelt last Saturday that was called at halftime because of weather. That came on the heels of a forfeit victory over Anuenue, which informed Rams coach Fred Salanoa just two days before the game was scheduled that it […]

Salanoa’s connection lands Manabe an offer

By Paul Honda on May 13, 2015

In an 11-day span during April, Radford wide receiver Thomas Reid III landed two FBS scholarship offers, one from Hawaii and the other from Nevada. The Nevada connection was former UH quarterback and assistant coach Nick Rolovich. Now Radford coach Fred Salanoa has another connection that has yielded an offer for another Radford player. Blaise Manabe, a transfer from Kalani, has a full-ride offer from Adams State. While Reid has the benefit of some game video highlights and a solid […]

Hawaii chasing Radford WR Thomas Reid

By Paul Honda on April 13, 2015

Thomas Reid had a quietly effective season as a wide receiver at Radford last fall. However, the 6-foot-2, 190-pound junior is starting to generate noise out in the recruiting universe. The University of Hawaii made him a scholarship offer on Sunday, just 24 hours after hosting Reid and several other players on “junior day” at the Manoa campus. Reid had 33 receptions for 619 yards and seven touchdowns last season. Because Radford plays in Division II, the scope of recruiters […]

High Voltage: Chargers offense dangerous

By Paul Honda on October 27, 2014

They are, after all, a perennial title contender. Again. When the Pearl City Chargers took the best shots that the Radford Rams had to give, they regrouped, stuck to the game plan and pulled away for a 35-20 win on Saturday. That earned the Chargers (8-1) a spot in this week’s OIA Division II title game against Nanakuli and guaranteed them a berth in the state tournament. For a half, it seemed iffy. Radford (6-4) had success moving the ball […]

VIDEO: Radford at Pearl City (playoff)

By Paul Honda on October 27, 2014

The Radford Rams needed a win over regular-season, second-place finisher Pearl City to reach the playoff finals. A win would also have vaulted the Rams into the state tournament. Instead, Jordan Taamu threw for five TDs as Pearl City rallied for a 35-20 win.

Nanakuli fends off Radford on final play

By Kyle Galdeira on October 3, 2014

Nanakuli overcame a slew of mistakes, including four errant snaps and a blocked punt early in the first half that set the Golden Hawks back a total of 97 yards coupled with 87 yards in penalties, but it was a miscue by Radford in the game’s final moments that provided the pride of the West side with a reprieve in a 27-26 win over the Rams. Ragged Nanakuli (7-0), which began the game with only 31 players in uniform, stopped […]

Pearl City and Radford anticipate a rematch

By Nick Abramo on September 24, 2014

If Pearl City and Radford remain classified in Division II, look for a real rivalry to develop. The schools are less than seven miles apart, and the competition has been super close on the football field. A year ago, the Chargers edged the Rams 7-6 in the regular-season finale at Radford. On Friday night at the Aiea High School field, Pearl City held on for a 34-26 win. After Jordan Taamu’s touchdown pass and two-point conversion toss to Israel Kaleo […]
