Highlights from Saturday morning’s scrimmage at Alexander Field. The first 5-10 minutes were not videotaped.
Farrington looks quite crisp considering it’s just one week into preseason. Two scrimmages in — against ILH powerhouses Kamehameha and Punahou, no less — and it is clear the Governors are bent on expanding their offensive menu. Often, they’ve lined up in the spread to give Montana Liana more options in the aerial game. But they’ve also lined up in slot-I (or I-slot, whichever tickles your fancy) sets and gashed for yardage inside, too. This morning at Alexander Field, new […]
Defending state football champion Punahou is still in the spotlight nationally. The CBS MaxPreps Preseason Football Rankings were released on Monday, listing Punahou among the “Next 25” after the initial list of Top 25 teams. Cedar Hill (Texas) is ranked No. 1. Punahou was grouped in alphabetical order with the next 25.
Some great footage of OL-versus-DL one-on-one (no pad) drills. Farrington defensive tackle Breiden Fehoko and Punahou offensive lineman Semisi Uluave look terrific against the top guys in the Oakland Nike Football Training Camp. Also in the footage is DL Salanoa Alo-Wily (Kahuku) and DT Rex Manu (Mililani). Fehoko (6-3, 285) has already committed to play for Texas Tech. He will be a senior this fall.
Punahou quarterback Larry Tuileta was so impressive, Gatorade honored him again as the Hawaii football player of the year. The award is based on achievements on the field and in the classroom. On the field, Tuileta directed a potent Punahou offense as the Buffanblu won the state championship. He finished the season with 2,647 yards, 28 touchdowns and just five picks. He completed 155 of 263 attempts (59 percent) and had a passer rating of 174.81. The best number: the […]
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 It was one of the most sudden changes in momentum this season, perhaps for all state-championship football games. Mililani was down 28-8 when the comeback began, and the Trojans’ trickery led to a finish that was as memorable as the 2013 season was.
