Football Tour: Farrington

Tour stop: Friday, Aug. 9, 2013 Just about every team in the state except Punahou has major work in progress, replacing outgoing senior starters. Farrington lost its entire starting offensive line to graduation, 10 offensive starters in all. Factor in academic casualties in preseason, and Coach Randall Okimoto and his staff get a chance to see a lot of new guys in their rotations. Later? Who knows. But they’ve got a stellar foundation to build on defensively.

Tour stop: Monday, Aug. 5, 2013 There is potential on Houghtailing Street, a block north of Farrington High School, a couple blocks makai from busy Kamehameha Bakery. At Damien, despite a few early academic issues and five transfers out, coach Eddie Klaneski is working hard. He’s optimistic.

Tour stop: Friday, Aug. 2, 2013 The vibe at Kaiser is upbeat, but coach Rich Miano is optimistic in a measured way. One thing is certain, though: Linebacker/running back Fitou Fisiiahi (6) is back to peak form. He’s down from 268 pounds to 231, largely because his injured foot has healed.
