Saint Louis ranked No. 9 in Pacific region

Saint Louis is ranked No. 9 in the USA Today Pacific region football rankings. The Crusaders (7-1) are getting ready to play in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu Division I championship game against Punahou on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Aloha Stadium. The two teams split two contests so far this year. The Buffanblu (8-1) won the fist time, 51-45, in double overtime. Nako is new Kamehameha boys VB coach

Randy Nako is the new Kamehameha boys volleyball coach, Warriors athletic director Glennie Adams told Hawaii Prep World on Wednesday. Nako has lots of experience as an assistant coach at many different levels. He was a volunteer assistant for the University of Hawaii men’s team and is currently an assistant with the Hawaii Hilo women’s team. The Positive Coaching Alliance and Boys and Girls Clubs of Hawaii are trotting out the Los Angeles Lakers for a fundraiser on Friday morning in Waikiki, but they would probably agree that the real winners will be at different tables. Mililani hires basketball, wrestling coaches

Jason Tittle is the new boys basketball coach at Mililani, Trojans athletic director Glenn Nitta said Monday. Tittle, who is a teacher at Mililani Middle School, was Mililani’s junior varsity coach since 2008. He won three Oahu Interscholastic Association JV championships and four OIA Western Division JV titles. He went 69-16 overall, including playoffs. As the years go by, Mid-Pacific has steadily moved ahead in forming its own athletic teams rather than have its athletes be part of the Pac-Five conglomerate. Pac-Five sports teams are made up of athletes from many different smaller Interscholastic League of Honolulu schools. The Punahou girls volleyball team won’t be sneaking up on Kamehameha this time around. The defending state champion Buffanblu beat the Warriors in last year’s state championship despite losing to them throughout the season. Now it is their turn to wear the bulls-eye.
