The 2008 prep football season began with Leilehua quarterback Andrew Manley, coming off his improbable run from the junior varsity team to leading the Mules to the 2007 state championship, trying to get back to another state final. An update on new varsity head coaches

New high school sports seasons bring new coaches, and there has been some changes in Hawaii for this winter. One change Hawaii Prep World has learned about is for the the spring sport of baseball, where Wes Yonamine is the new head coach at Pearl City. Honolulu’s Mulligan headed for Missouri

Honolulu’s Mya Mulligan recently signed a letter of intent to accept a scholarship for gymnastics at the University of Missouri. Mulligan is a member of the Hawaii Island Twisters gymnastics club and does her online schooling with The Potter’s School. “I love the work ethic that Mya brings day in and day out to everything she does,” Tigers coach Shannon Welker said on the team’s website. “When you meet her and have a chance to talk to her, you will […]

Now more than ever, volleyball talent in Hawaii resides in the ILH. Oahu’s private-school league garnered 12 of the 15 players on the Star-Advertiser’s season-ending All-State team, tying the record it held in 2015 and 2008. The fewest ILH players on the Fab 15, which began in the Star-Bulletin in 2007, was eight in 2013. So the ILH has always had more than half of the representation. Mitchell’s 19 points spark HBA over Kaimuki 58-49

Micah Mitchell scored 19 points as Hawaii Baptist held on for a 58-49 win over Kaimuki in the opening game of the Hawaii Self Storage McKinley Black and Gold Classic on Friday afternoon. The Eagles shot 8-for-24 from 3-point range, but overcame an inconsistent stroke from deep by attacking Kaimuki’s man defense. Gymnast from Damien headed to Illinois

Emanuele Muehlhauser, a Damien Memorial senior, signed a national letter of intent on Thursday to accept a partial gymnastics scholarship with the University of Illinois. The Illini are one of the nation’s top college gymnastics programs. They finished No. 3 in the College Gymnastics Association national rankings last spring. Muehlhauser trains with Hawaii Island Twisters, which is based in Mapunapuna.
