Simon Bitanga is back in charge of the Kaiser girls basketball team. Bitanga is being investigated for alleged wrongdoing by the Department of Education. Konawaena, ranked No. 7 in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 national rankings, lost to Forestville Military Academy 60-54 today at the Title IX Holiday Classic in Washington, D.C. It is the first loss of the season after 11 wins for Konawaena, which took the ‘Iolani Classic crown two weeks ago. The Wildcats defeated Mililani (75-22), South Medford (Ore.) (62-48) and Bishop O’Dowd (Calif.) (62-50) at the Classic. More recently, the WIldcats were coming off victories over Pahoa (81-11) and Ka‘u (101-8).

ILH girls basketball tonight. If it seems like there’s always basketball at ‘Iolani Gymnasium, that’s because it’s true. The boys ‘Iolani Classic concluded last night, and here we are back on the Raiders’ hardwood. This is always a great battle between Kamehameha and ‘Iolani.
