The final week of “Season 1” is a busy one on the hardwood for private-school basketball programs. Tonight, Hanalani’s girls team visits Kamehameha, and the Warrior boys host Punahou after that in an exhibition doubleheader at Kekuhaupio Gymnasium. In the 12 months since the Eagles of Hawaii Baptist Academy played an official game, they still managed to grow together. Grow stronger. Emi Wada scored 13 of her 19 points in the fourth quarter to fuel an HBA rally, but powerhouse Kamehameha prevailed, 52-46, at Dan Liu Gymnasium. Girls and boys basketball never went away in 2021. The game simply waited, and this weekend, there will be a cathartic moment or two for the Kamehameha Warriors and Hawaii Baptist Academy Eagles. Kamehameha will host Hawaii Baptist on Friday, 4 p.m., at Kekuhaupio Gymnasium in an exhibition game. Chanelle Molina’s got the Fever. Molina is getting her shot at the dream: the WNBA. The former Konawaena and Washington State basketball standout announced on Monday that she has signed a training camp contract with the WNBA’s Indiana Fever. National Federation of High Schools: No more tiers on COVID-19 restrictions

The National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) has removed tiers from its recommended guidelines regarding COVID-19. The Kingdom of Hawaii basketball organization, Ke Aupuni Hawaii Athletics, is the first member to join the newly-created International Basketball Union. Ke Aupuni Hawaii has played abroad since 2018 with men’s and women’s teams. Safe Sports Hawaii releases 44-page book of guidelines for all sports

On Wednesday, the Honolulu City Council unanimously approved RES21-018 CD1, submitted by Councilmember Andria Tupola. On Friday evening, Safe Sports Hawaii released a 44-page guide examining its guidelines for protocols and safety, covering everything from ballroom dancing to wrestling.
