Trench Warfare 3: Fehoko vs. Mapuhi

By Jerry Campany on October 4, 2013

Farrington’s Breiden Fehoko vs. Kahuku’s Keala Mapuhi The third installment of Trench Warfare looks like a mismatch. On one side, Farrington’s Breiden Fehoko holds court among his teammates, getting them pumped up for the clash. On the other, Kahuku’s Keala Mapuhi quietly goes about his preparations. This matchup looks very much like Akebono vs. Konishiki, with Fehoko’s athleticism packed into a 6-foot-3, 280-pound package trying to maneuver around Mapuhi’s 300-plus pounds on a 6-foot frame. Fehoko, a junior, is one […]

No. 1 Punahou, No. 4 Saint Louis collide

By Billy Hull on October 4, 2013

No. 1 Punahou can make things easy by taking care of business Friday night at Aloha Stadium against No. 4 Saint Louis. The Crusaders can really mess things up with a win of their own. Assuming neither team slips up in its final regular-season game against Division II teams, Friday night’s tilt will determine how the ILH Division I playoff bracket will look. For Punahou (6-0, 4-0), the two-time defending ILH champion, it’s simple: Win, and you’re at home resting […]

By Jerry Campany on October 4, 2013

Kahuku’s Lamone Williams vs. Farrington’s Mason Semisi In the second installment of Trench Warfare, we have Kahuku defensive end Lamone Williams vs. Farrington tackle Mason Semisi. All scoring on the 10-point must system and very subjective, feel free to add your own score. Farrington won this game at Aloha Stadium 21-7. Williams is a returning all-state player as a senior and carries a lean 240 pounds on his 6-foot-3 frame. Semisi also stands 6-3, but has 40 more pounds (according […]

Video: Kalani vs. Anuenue

By Paul Honda on October 4, 2013

Normally, Kalani-Anuenue is a competitive football game. Timing has changed, however. Kalani continues to progress and is on an upward thrust to success with a prolific passing attack. Anuenue hasn’t been its usual self this fall, not with the graduation of many seniors. Even with its small enrollment, Anuenue had produced some of the state’s top rushers each year. This is not one of those years. Na Koa are young and building. They suited up 18 in this game. Eighteen […]

Farrington is best in the East

By Billy Hull on October 4, 2013

Written off by many after an 0-2 start, the Farrington Governors ran the table in the OIA Red East, punctuated by a 21-7 win over Kahuku on Thursday night at Aloha Stadium. The Governors defense stepped up in the winner-take-all game, holding Kahuku to just one first down over the first 35 minutes. OIA Red East standings Kahuku quarterback Tuli Wily-Matagi didn’t complete a pass until hitting Kuuliko Carvalho on a stop-and-go route for 27 yards with less than a […]

Update: Farrington 21, Kahuku 7, final

By Paul Honda on October 3, 2013

First Quarter Kahuku won the toss and defers. Farrington to receive the opening kickoff. Opening drive: Govs mixing it up with two passes on its first two plays, then a double-tight end, shotgun handoff to Sanele Lavatai. More: Another nice wrinkle following a more standard I-set. Govs went to a pistol set, offset I, throwing for a first down. Red Raiders can’t tee off on first down against the Govs right now. Nice play calls. Ace formation, trips right, Montana […]
