California Golden Blogs has reported today that Punahou wide receiver Kanawai Noa has committed to play for the University of California. Noa caught 58 passes for 1,113 yards and 10 touchdowns as a senior. He also returned two punts and one kickoff for TDs. He was a Star-Advertiser All-State first-team selection as a junior. The 2014 All-State team will be published on Christmas Day.
Saint Louis offensive lineman Fred Ulu-Perry hasn’t wavered in his early commitment to UCLA. The 6-foot-2,5, 295-pound left tackle committed to UCLA before his senior year began. “I’m a UCLA commit, 110 percent,” he texted on Monday night. But that doesn’t mean Ulu-Perry is staying land-locked. In January, he plans to visit Texas A&M, Colorado and UH. He also has a scholarship offer from Texas Tech. Punahou senior Alex Trifonovitch has been offered an opportunity to play football for the University of Hawaii. Pacific Islands Athletic Alliance announced the news on Monday night. Trifonovitch was Punahou’s starting punter and backup placekicker. Both he and starting PK Jon Toner have touchback range on kickoffs. Trifonovitch averaged 40 yards per punt in two state-tournament games this fall.
Punahou linebacker Ronley Lakalaka has received a scholarship offer from San Diego State. Pacific Island Athletic Alliance made the news public this morning. Lakalaka, a 6-foot, 210-pound senior, was part of a stellar defense that helped Punahou win the ILH championship and reach the state tournament final. Lakalaka, younger brother of University of Hawaii running back Steven Lakalaka, also plays basketball for the Buffanblu. Former Mililani defensive end/tight end Dakota Turner is a redshirt freshman defensive lineman for SDSU.
