Golden Hawks to play next 2 games in Nanakuli

The work on the track around Nanakuli’s football field is complete and the Golden Hawks will play their final two regular-season games at home, Oahu Interscholastic Association athletic director Harold Tanaka said Tuesday morning. Nanakuli’s home games are an Oahu Interscholastic Association Division II first-place test against Radford (7-0, 6-0) on Friday and against Kalani (3-4, 3-3) on Oct. 10. McKinley makes final decision to forfeit finale

McKinley held out hope it could play its final scheduled football game of the season Saturday against Castle, but that idea ended Monday. “Unfortunately, we had to make the difficult decision to end our varsity season due to safety concerns with limited numbers (of players),” head coach Sam Cantiberos texted Hawaii Prep World on Monday night. “Through talking with some of the parents and student-athletes, we would have no more than 17 eligible players. Kohala takes 2-game lead in 8-man football

Visiting Kohala defeated Pahoa 42-14 in Big Island Interscholastic Federation 8-man football on Saturday. The Cowboys (3-0) took a two-game lead over second-place Ka‘u. In Maui Interscholastic League 8-man football, Lanai scored a 2-0 forfeit victory over Kihei Charter. The Tiger Sharks have disbanded and forfeited their final three games. 1 unbeaten, 2 winless in Neighbor Islands FB

Kapaa is the last remaining unbeaten football team among Hawaii’s three Neighbor Islands football leagues. The Warriors, who were idle last weekend, play Waimea next Saturday at Hanapepe Stadium. Konawaena was undefeated going into last Saturday’s game against Kamehameha-Hawaii, but the Warriors beat the Wildcats 24-0. Punahou ranked in MaxPreps’ top 100

Punahou moved up 56 spots to No. 75 in the MaxPreps computer national rankings released Sunday. Hawaii’s top-ranked team, the Buffanblu (6-0, 3-0 Interscholastic League of Honolulu Division I) are the only team in state in MaxPreps’ top 100. They’re coming off a 51-46 double-overtime win over then-No. 1 Saint Louis (4-1, 2-1 ILH D-I), which dropped 72 spots to No. 204.
