GPA Football Showcase: Day 1 update

5:45 p.m. The GPA Football College Showcase is underway. It’s been packed here at T.C. Ching Field since I got here around 4 p.m. Registration started at 3 p.m. and Rich Miano says there were players here since 11 a.m. Last year’s Showcase — then known as the Maximum Exposure Camp — drew about 300 players. Things move pretty fast in football these days. The season is a few months away, but CBS MaxPreps already has its national rankings out and Kahuku is ranked No. 39. The Red Raiders went 13-0 a year ago and won the state Division I championship, its eighth title since 2000. They finished the 2015 season as No. 37 in the nation.
