Mariota is star of Oregon’s west wing

This is a west wing that island fans can visit one day. Marcus Mariota‘s accomplishments and leadership won’t be forgotten in Eugene, Ore., either. GoDucks.com reports today that the University of Oregon has opened the Marcus Mariota Sports Performance Center. The facility has an entrance from the west into the Casanova Center, opening with trophies and video of Mariota. Along with a revamped equipment room, the renovation covers 30,000 square feet. With the Interscholastic League of Honolulu having much to gain with the recent format change to the state football tournaments, it’s no surprise that Punahou coach Kale Ane is pleased. The longtime coach and assistant athletic director found out about the Hawaii High School Athletic Association’s decision after Punahou’s late-afternoon practice on Monday. “Great news for all of us. USC’s Malepeai out 6-to-8 weeks with injury

USC freshman running back Vavae Malepeai will miss 6-to-8 weeks with a shoulder injury, according to a report by Michael Castillo on ReignOfTroy.com. Malepeai, a 2016 Mililani graduate and Hawaii’s all-time leading high school rusher, broke his scapula during practice last week. In Castillo’s story, he mentions Malepeai as having “turned heads” at practice.
