By Nick Abramo on October 13, 2016

Jr. Prep Sports football has created quite a pipeline of players to varsity football in Hawaii and the mainland. Leilehua-Kahuku rematch is a bonus for Mules

By Nick Abramo on October 13, 2016

No. 1 Kahuku is a big favorite to beat unranked Leilehua in the Oahu Interscholastic Association quarterfinals Friday night. But the best part about it for the Mules (4-5) is they have a lot to gain even if they lose. They have already qualified for next month’s state tournament, so what better way to go into the quarterfinals than against the top-ranked team in the state? >> A victory would be a mammoth upset. >> A loss? Well, that’s what […]

You see, those same eyes before the game were probably glinting with the wonderful possibilities of what could actually happen with a win. “The hardest part is getting the kids to reach their potential,” said Say, who knows a thing or two about coaching football. He just finished his 26th season as Na […]

Arnold Martinez knew he was in for a challenge accepting the head football coaching position at Kaiser five weeks before the start of the season. The scope of that challenge turned out to be much greater. Martinez ended his first year with the Cougars losing 43-0 to Farrington last Friday in the first round of the OIA Division I playoffs. Kaiser suited up 25 varsity players for the game and allowed 12 sophomores from the junior varsity team to suit […]
