Maui hires Figueroa as football coach

Rodney Figueroa is the new football coach at Maui High, Sabers athletic director Michael Ban announced Thursday. “Figueroa brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Sabers football program,” Ban said in a news release. “He is eager to meet the incoming players and start planning for the upcoming season. The updated ESPN 300 recruiting rankings for the high school class of 2018 was released Thursday with 40 of the current 2018 Polynesian Bowl commitments listed. Four of the top eight players in the nation will compete at Aloha Stadium in January 2018 — DE Eyabi Anoma (No. 2), QB Justin Fields (No. 4), WR Jalen Hall (No. 7) and DE Micah Parsons (No. 8).
