A new ship? Gilman visits Irish

Well, that didn’t take very long. Former Star-Advetiser All-State football player Alohi Gilman of Kahuku made a visit to Notre Dame over the weekend. He had recently announced plans to transfer out of the US Naval Academy, where he had a strong freshman season. Gilman is the latest Hawaii product to transfer schools this offseason. OIA football schedule tough on certain schools

The algorithms that make up the OIA football schedule didn’t do Kaiser any favors this year. The OIA’s fall football schedule features midweek games to address the lack of qualified officials. Kaiser football coach Arnold Martinez was the most vocal critic before the schedule was released. Once the schedule was officially released, all of Martinez’s fears were realized. OIA football schedule for 2017 is here

The Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I and Division II regular-season football schedule is out. As expected, there are some games on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Due to a referee shortage, the league wanted to spread out games through the week. There are a total of six Wednesday games — two in D-I and four in D-II. In addition, there are 16 Thursday games.
